I found this article to be fascinating but also horrifying in many ways.
it interested me because of the volcano connection but the attitude to the Māori, while not surprising for the time, is appalling. It strikes me that we are still enforcing our influence on other cultures just as much now as in previous years but in a more socially palatable way through mass media and the internet. Sooner or later we will have a generic western/American culture if we are not careful.
