A Virginia man with a “non-government issued credential,” a handgun and more than 500 rounds of ammo was arrested by U.S. Capitol Police on Friday after he was stopped at a checkpoint in downtown Washington, D.C.
Wesley Allen Beeler, 31, was arrested after he allegedly presented officers with what was described as an unauthorized inauguration credential, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.
“The Suspect presented a non-government issued credential, and the officers observed a handgun in plain sight in the Suspect’s vehicle,” Capitol Police said in a statement Saturday. “A search of the vehicle also found numerous rounds of ammunition. ”
