Anyone watch "Lovecraft Country" ? August 21, 2020 4:22 pm podrock

I’ve watched it twice now and have to say it was a solid series premier (HBO). It’s hard to have decent exposition with this many characters and the episode showed just enough of their present motivations and hints of their backstory to get me to like them and be curious to learn more. Lots of dropped foreshadowing lines of dialog. And a really nice plot balance of emotions. There’s the nostalgia of a man returning home after war, the joy of a street party, and the fear of being pursued. Better yet, the terror doesn’t all have a supernatural element. Fellow humans bent on harm pursuing the protagonists are as scary as the monsters. And an introduction to a secret society sprinkled throughout. Excellent pacing.

Okay, I’m in. Let’s see what you’ve got for next week.
