Most annoying IE9 bugs so far June 4, 2011 12:01 pm TB

Both of these are irritating, but not fatal:

I run multiple tabs, usually creating new ones to open new sites. Some tabs on the right have, for some unknown reason, a disabled menu bar. In other words, I can mouse over “File, Edit, View, Favorites, etc.” and they don’t work. Weirdly, if I open new tabs to the right of the funky tab, the menu often works normally.

My browsing history (under the star in IE9) is non-functional. I have the “save site history” number of days set up in the hundreds. But if I go to yesterday, I get two things: “localhost” and “Carbonite is paused.” I have to go back to 4 weeks ago to get a nice list of the sites I browsed that day.

Microsoft is no help. Typical “fixes” involve complete resets of the browser, re-installation of the browser, and other such no-brain answers. I fully expect Microsoft to put out a universal fix someday: “back over computer with truck. Buy new one. Install all new software.”
