Any AT&T I-phone, I-pad users here? May 19, 2011 7:24 am Eri

Saw on Today today that there’s a class-action suit against AT&T for systematically overcharging customers for data usage. Independent computer tech company monitored and found all accounts overcharged 7-14 % and some as much as 300%. Yikes! That’s millions and millions of dollars for AT&T. There would be charges made for data usage when people were sleeping, not using their units. AT&T’s answer? There are programs running in the background and updates being done.

Yeah, right. They’re no better than thieves. My cell phone is AT&T unfortunately. I had Cingular who got gulped up by AT&T. I have hated the SOB’s for years. I caught them overcharging ME on my telephone long distance charges years ago and quit them. Now I inherited them because I had Cingular. When I got a new cell phone, I found charges that shouldn’t have been on there and howled loud and clear. Got the charges removed and deactivated texting and the web on my phone. If I had wanted a frigging hand held computer, I’d have have bought one. You have no choice these days, though. If a cell phone is all you want, you have to deactivate the rest.

What AT&T did was to make it so that you’d “accidentally” hit web browsing when trying to reach any of the other items on the phone, i.e. your contacts list. Unless you’re very, very careful and take the extra time to make sure you didn’t hit it. Every time I’d accidentally hit the browsing icon, they’d charge me for 5 minutes of data usage. And it was like a split second.

I wish I had Sprint.
