Russian casualties in Ukraine = 70/80k --- Pentagon August 8, 2022 5:25 pm ER

https://currently.att.yahoo.com/news/russia-seen-70-000-80-190640630.html

That is an enormous number, even considering Ukrainian estimates of 40k dead Russians, which should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt for obvious reasons.

“Casualties” is usually defined as ‘troops no longer available for service’, which includes dead, wounded, missing, captured and desertions. But these are Pentagon figures, which should have some legitimacy. This is an enormous number; even if they have been immediately replaced by conscripts and reservists. It is hard to see how any army could function at all with this level of attrition.

It also makes one wonder just what Putin might do in order to save face.

You know what “saving face” is, don’t you? Its what the enemy does. When WE do it, its called “Honor”.
