Can America survive without a middle class? January 23, 2012 12:23 am bowser

If conservatives have their way, the rich will get richer and the poorer will get poorer.  The middle class will disappear except for technicians serving the upper classes.  Megacorporations will control everything from food production to communications to internal and external security.  Blackwater was a wonderful example of a military force not responsible to normal civilian or military control.

If that is not a desired end, if that is not the America we were born into, how can that be avoided?  Would wealth have to be redistributed?  Is there something obscene about a baby not getting preventative medical care when other people have enough for 4 or 5 homes, etc?

Any ideas?  Or is the status quo with it’s trend toward being a banana republic desireable?

And no one should bother to deny that trend isn’t real.  You’ll just embarrass yourself and the HZ in general.
