My cousin Rudy called me today, he wanted to know who I thought was responsible for organizing and supporting the “caravan”. The caravan is the name Donald Trump has chosen for a column of Central American refugees who want to enter the United States on foot. The caravan is currently stopped at the southern Mexican border by the authorities.

He named the following possibilities. (Not in any particular order):

1) Donald Trump, in an effort to fire up his base before the mid-term elections.

2) The Democrats, in an effort to embarrass Trump. BTW, this is Trump’s theory.

3) Some do-gooder Liberal pro-refugee organization, in an effort to help all those poor, helpless little brown people, boo-hoo.

4) Vladimir Putin, in an effort to spread turmoil and confusion in the West.

My response was “There is no reason why it can’t be some, or even ALL, of the above. Choosing any one of those does not automatically exclude any of the others.”
