PCI-E HELP December 11, 2013 8:40 pm RobVG

I think the graphics card on my friends desktop has gone out.

I haven’t seen one before but it has a PCI express slot. The slot contains a card about the size of a business card and it sits in the full length of the slot.

But the video port is not on the card. It’s 8 inches away on the motherboard, sticking out the back of the box.

Could I install a full card with it’s own video port? I’m not sure if the existing config is considered onboard or if it would have to be disabled. Thinking about getting one from ebay just for diagnosis.
