Watching the various renditions of the Curiosity landing. August 15, 2012 10:25 pm bowser

I can’t help but be in total awe of the folks who accepted that challenge, decided that landing out of Earth’s control was feasible, chose a cockamammie method of touching down, and used the same computer for cruise, landing and science.

While comparisons are unfair, this seems to be much more of an accomplishment than the first Moon landing, which was under human control the entire way.

I don’t think there is a soul associated with Curiosity who doesn’t deserve the highest credit.  And thank God for the committee – no one in their right mind, no one person, could have suggested all of that and remained loose.  It took great minds reinforcing each other to put it all together.

A bit slow, I am, and mightily impressed.
