Carbonite improvements June 19, 2012 1:35 pm TB

I’ve been using Carbonite for a long time for my “cloud” backup. $59 a year for unlimited space. Both my kids have a subscription too.

One hangup the system has always had is that if I ever lost my whole hard drive, it would take a week to rebuild it over the internet from the backup.

Now Carbonite, in their premium version, has a “courier” service option, where they simply ship you the backup if you need to rebuild a whole disk. Much faster.

The $149 price is a little rich for me, particularly since I have all my data backed up on auxiliary drives too.
