A question about the Golden Gate Bridge. May 28, 2012 9:37 pm bowser

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47589403

The 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge is being celebrated.  It’s held up for that long.

I’ve seen TV programs on the constant maintenance on this structure, mostly scraping and painting, resurfacing and that sort of thing.

How long is this thing projected to last?  I tend to think forever, along with the Empire State Building and so on.  But clearly the Golden Gate can’t last forever.  I wonder what the projected service life is.  Anybody know?

  • Like any structure or machine, it'll last as long as it's kept in repair and parts are replaced. by TB 2012-05-29 07:04:41

    • My guess is that it will last until an earthquake takes it out. by bowser 2012-05-28 22:17:11
