Just finished watching the second season of Fallout on Amazon Prime. I had watched the first season a couple years ago and the plot is pretty complex with many subplots going on, so I was initially having a hard following season 2 having forgotten a lot of the subtleties. I ended up re-watching season 1 and was glad I did since I picked up things I missed the first time I watched it.

For a show based on a video game, this is a pretty good show. Kind of a retro futuristic, post apocalyptic gritty Mad Max style world, but also a lot of non-linear flashbacks to some of the characters who also existed in the 1950s atomic age style, pre-apocalypse world. Dystopian sci fi with outstanding special effects, dark humor and very solid acting.

Ella Purnell plays the lead female character Lucy. She’s perfect as the quirky innocent girl (with real-life enormous, almost anime, eyes) trying to keep her good morals in a hellish world filled with so many different bad guys, mutants, monsters, evil corporations, factions, etc etc etc. As I mentioned, a complex plot. Also stand out performances by male lead Walter Goggins as Ghoul, Aaron Moten as Maximus, and Hollywood heavyweight Kyle MacLachlan (Dune, Twin Peaks, and 45 years more of acting) as Lucy’s Dad. Too many other excellent and well known actors and solid performances in this very large and deep cast to mention.

Looking forward to Season 3. I can’t see Amazon pulling the plug on this one like they did with The Expanse. It’s their number one show by a long shot.
