AI and the superconducting relativistic monkey collider July 26, 2025 10:14 pm RL

I started this chatgpt discussion over a year ago. It starts with asking it to generate a few science fiction images, but soon becomes a detailed scientific discussion about building a superconducting relativistic monkey collider.

It is rather long, and very silly, and has some really great pictures … over the year chatgpt was improved several times and I find it creepy how it goes from enthusiastic collaborator, to having serious ethical concerns, to openly suspecting I am having fun at its expense….

I shudder to think how many kW hours of energy were used in this chat…
