Ok so 92% of public education is funded by State and local taxes, but the 8% of federal funding entirely covers programs like Title I (for disadvantaged students), special education (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act or IDEA), and school lunch programs.
These cuts, if they happen, will hit the most needy children in America. It’s likely Trump’s executive order is illegal (like so many others) given only Congress has the authority to eliminate federal departments it created.
