I respect that.

It has to be said though that one side deliberately hurts the innocent and the other actually tries to avoid it, although sadly it still happens as collateral damage. Further, Hamas cowardly hides behind their own civilians, their own women and children and sick, intentionally wanting to sacrifice them for propaganda value. They've been doing it for decades.

My deep hope is that peace will come when the terrorist Islamo-fascist psychopaths dictatorial rule is gone.

Hamas having a debate with their political opposition in Gaza:

I have sympathy for the good Palestinians who want peace and a good life for themselves and their children. What they need is a Palestinian Ghandi with a willingness to compromise and accept land for real peace.

But anyone on the side of Hamas is picking the wrong team in every sense of morality.

In my view, the side that establishes freedom for all residents to live in peace and security, whether they are Jews, Muslims, Christians, atheists, straight, gay, whatever, - matters. Islamo-fascism is a violently intolerant philosophy and there is no equating them with open and free societies.

Israel is not a theocracy. There is no formal separation of religion and state like in the US Constitution, but the extent of religious influence is state-run and public institutions are required to observe kosher dietary laws, and public transport is shut down on the Jewish sabbath. Marriage and divorce is done within whatever religion is relevant. Hardly are theocratic tyranny.

Every single nation that exists on earth was once migrated to. Few have a continuous presence as long as Jews in Israel. Again, thousands never left and I'm pretty sure they have been a majority in Jerusalem throughout most of history. There has never been a nation of Palestinian Arabs. It has been ruled by outside powers since Roman times. They have been offered a state many times and their plight today rest entirely on the decisions to refuse by their leaders.

Also, as I pointed out in the past, Gaza was a defacto Palestinian state entirely run by Palestinians for nearly two decades. What happened? $26 billion in foreign aid flowed in and Hamas spent all of it on terror tunnels and weapons to kill Jews. They could have turned Gaza into a beautiful Mediterranean jewel of a city (like Beirut was before the PLO ruined it). They could have made it a place where their people thrived. Instead they chose to turn it into a death cult.

And to repeat, if Israel's enemies laid down their arms the wars and deaths would end. If Israel laid down their arms, Israel would end in a genocidal massacre. Again, no equivalence. Jews are not "killing them until they stop hating us." They are defending themselves from people who want to murder them.

I recall a story in an old book
about an exodus of a wandering group of people destroying a city with trumpets so they could move in. They were promised!

The area is layer upon layer of destroyed civilizations. There's a new layer of rubble now. Buried bodies. A story as old as humanity.

And it is not good, in any way. Theocracies always suck. Not the people, generally, but the fanatics who insist everyone be like them or die.

"We'll keep killing them until they stop hating us." An actual quote I heard on the television 40 years ago from a resident of the area. Does it matter which side they were on?
