As both sides mobilize for the final show-down, the crisis will come. How it turns out can't be easily determined now, but the final result will tell us whether we stay a republic or not. Just how far he will go will depend on how much support he believes he can mobilize, and whether the Congress and courts assert themselves or succumb to cowardice and fear. What he will be willing to do in the crunch will depend on how threatened he feels due the consequences of his action. The desperation and boldness of his reaction will be the result of how afraid he is for himself, how likely he feels his own future is threatened.
