There have been recent studies that specific types of cognitive-speed video games can reduce the risk of dementia by up to 25%–29% in older adults, with protective effects over two decades. Other types of games also provide benefits. These games function by enhancing brain plasticity, attention, and cognitive speed, though they are not a guaranteed prevention method for all dementia types. Further, regular gaming is associated with a higher volume of gray matter in the hippocampus and better cognitive function, including improved memory and reaction time.

I've enjoyed turn based strategy games, mmorts, and multi-player racing games for years.

I just don't get video games. The only one I ever played was MYST, way back in the day.

Never forget the basic adage: If it is free you are the product. Your info is valuable. Are you training an AI? Or just once you get addicted, then you pay. Because it is a dopamine reward feedback loop.

And a person playing candy crush is not paying attention to anything else.
