Sometime literally. I had rulers across my knuckles upon occasion. Mrs. P. is an absolute stickler - without the ruler. God forbid I end a sentence with a preposition! I admire writers who know the rules but break them when that breaking creates a reaction in the reader. Or creating authentic dialog. Not everyone was tutored in the King's English or had a worn copy of The Chicago Manual of Style. What bothers me of late is reputable journalism sites with multiple errors as if an editor never even read it. And obvious AI is a no go for me. I need a personality behind the things I read.
