this would be a great excuse for US interests who have been looking for an excuse to take out Senor Maduro?

Incidentally, "Maduro" is Spanish for "Mature" or "ripe", as in "<em>fruit ripe for the picking</em>".

It should also be noted that it would certainly be in the interest of several US adversaries if South America erupted in violence, conflict and unrest. Things are already getting pretty hot in Haiti, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Columbia, Mexico and Central America. Trouble in the Caribbean could certainly keep a couple of carrier battle groups tied down indefinitely.

But its ability to produce it is in the toilet, due to economic mismanagement and foreign sanctions. Besides, the country is broke, and fighting wars is very expensive.

Then again, foreign military adventures are a favorite tactic for dictatorships with massive political and economic troubles at home...

That's all we need. Neocons have been wanting to go in there and clean house for a long time now.

Sigh.
