Alien Life Form -- Solenopsis invicta September 12, 2023 7:09 am ER

https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/11/europe/invasive-red-fire-ant-europe-italy-scn/index.html

These little guys are a big problem in Florida. They are devastating to agriculture, the local biota, and in general turn the outdoors into a hostile and dangerous place. They can kill pets and children. Their sting is incredibly painful.

In spite of an enormous literature on this species,

and a long catalog of its diseases, parasites and predators, little has been done to control its spread across the world.
