I almost joined Twitter today July 25, 2022 6:14 pm podrock

To rant. To just grab someone by the virtual lapels and tell them how deluded they are.

I stumbled upon an account that could have been written by a former member here, except a different claimed gender. The profile claimed to be a “researcher.” The research was claiming the whole electric universe idea, that gravity is based on electrons, that the earth’s magnetic field was generated by a solid bar magnet that has split in two, and other insanities I could not begin to understand. All said with authority and stupid infographic memes and questioning Einstein.

Why do I do this to myself? Why do I scroll through their feed, rolling my eyes till they hurt, mentally writing stinging replies…?

Mrs. P. asked why people get so adamant about their fringe theories.

I didn’t have a good answer. So we watched that Monty Python skit about the woman who has a theory. It’s her theory, and this is the theory, that is hers, this theory, cough, cough, etc

And I did not join just to reply. Why? Because it would not change anything. Nothing, Nada. Nope. Useless waste of time. Would maybe get into an argument. What’s the point? Besides, for all I know it is a bot account.

Let it go, Pod, let it go.
