Money, is, of course a factor.

But in my opinion, it is the imposition of religious values on the rest of us. I've posted many times before about the dominionist movement in American religion. Now there are a few on the Supreme Court. In this mindset, the only time you should have sex is in a marriage and with the intention of making a baby. That's it. Otherwise it is a sin before gawd.

Also, it is a form of terrorism to achieve that goal. Don't get pregnant outside of marriage. Or else.

The part that really frightens me is the life of the mothers in case of a misplaced embryo. Or investigating miscarriages. I know so many women, many in my family, that have gone through a failed pregnancy. The emotional effect is horrible. And they did nothing wrong. The fetus was not viable, so the body rejects it. That's fucking nature. Now, in some states, some asshole is going to visit with these grieving women to interview them about the cause and if it was criminal.

Fuck that. That's the sin. To hurt someone without reason. It's also evil to do that under the guise of a religion based on a guy who preached love and kindness. Who did not mention abortion AT ALL. Who knew the old testament backwards and knew there were instructions on when to do abortions.

To prove my original point, they are coming after contraceptives next. Thomas mentioned that in his opinion. They do not want people to have sex outside of marriage. And if you do, you could get screwed.

And yeah, the rich white assholes will still have sex outside of marriage.

Its about spending tax dollars on abortions. They won't come out and say it up front, but that's what its really all about.

When conservatives want an abortion, they can go get one. They have the resources, both to travel to where they are available, and to pay whatever it takes to have it done discreetly and safely. But they have no intention of shelling out their cash, through government programs, to provide abortions to anyone who doesn't deserve it. And they think about it in exactly those terms. They are "nice folks", they need abortions to correct a terrible mistake. When other people need an abortion its because they are self-indulgent and immoral and will not take responsibility for their actions. I'm old enough to remember how people talked before Roe v Wade. They didn't want the white trash to get abortions with their tax dollars. Of course, if it cut down on the number of Negroes... THAT was the conversation. The abortion debate is really a minor skirmish in the bigger socialized medicine war.

Sure, there are a lot of poor people who are opposed to abortions, for moral or political reasons, or because of religious considerations. But this is really about money. Conservatives think people should pay for their own medical care, and they are willing to let people die of easily treatable diseases or routine medical conditions so they don't have to pay for any medical care.

The loud voices from the churches and the moral majority are a sideshow. They have been enlisted in the fight. But the generals just see this as a tax issue.

Yeah, you have every right to be furious.

I haven't been posting much on this - not because I don't feel strongly about it, but because I feel so strongly about it I don't trust myself to put it into words.

To say I am furious does not even begin to cover it...

Synchronized and coordinated.

Recent supreme court decisions on abortion, the environment, corporate regulation, civil rights and election law are too complementary to be coincidental. These serve the simultaneous purpose of overwhelming Liberal objections in a flurry of attacks, but also distracting attention from recent Democratic successes regarding the Jan 6 hearings. The mid-term elections are just a few months away; I smell a plan unfolding.

Is there something similar going on where you live, Pebble? BTW, where DO you live? And where are you from originally? You've given us hints about New Zealand and the UK, but I'm still not sure.
