Complete independence or just their own parliament but still under the control of the crown. Some thought the latter would lead to the former, others said screw that. This division divided the rebellion. Seems that much of Irish History, especially since the 1600's, has been horrible. Mention Cromwell in Ireland and the response is "That Bastard." And if you are fond of mixing dark and light beers in a pint, Do Not Call For A Black & Tan in a pub. Just don't. Ask for a proper pint, lift it, and say "Éire go brách!"
