If a car is used by someone who is learning to drive, it must have an “L” sticker and the learner has to drive with a licensed driver.

“N” signifies a new driver who has had their license for less than a year.

The “C”?
Ask any driver in British Columbia who are the worst drivers, they will answer “Chinese” (immigrants)

At the same time as C, they came out with “P” for pensioner. You guessed it…

Growing up on Military bases was a bit of a trip. As a teenager, I drove one of the family cars when I went off base, the car had a special sticker on the front left bumper that allowed me to drive through the checkpoint gate without having to stop and show ID. It also had an insignia indicating my father’s rank of Colonel.

The fun part? The young, well armed MP’s had to salute the car no matter who was driving it. So here I am, a long-haired teenager returning from being out with friends being saluted by the straight laced buzz cut cops. I loved it. I didn’t return the salutes.

Okay, sometimes I did when I felt like being a smartass.

rental cars used to have special plates, and each county registration number had an initial digit that identified its home county (for example, registrations that began with a ’3′ were from Hillsborough County–Tampa, ’1′ were from Dade County, Miami). Eventually, these were all replaced by random numbers because criminals were targeting tourists and out-of-towners as easy marks.

People who weren’t locals were more likely to have their cars broken into, or vandalized, especially at sporting events or tourist attractions.

They are a sign of Māori prestige, integrity and identity. Only a Māori Tohunga-tā-moko (tattooists) can do one of them in another Māori.

Recently Māori prime time news anchor has had a moko kauae, a lower chin tattoo.

Facial tattoos are culturally very significant to Māori as the head is sacred.

So much so that any insults directed at the head are as bad as the worst insults in other cultures. I can say more another time, I can’t type any more now. Apologies for typos.

Why would anyoone want a a mark on their body the State could use to identify him?

My car is easily lost in a parking lot. It looks a lot like a million other cheap econoboxes. I find it by using two pieces of reflective tape wrapped around the radio antenna. Unless you are looking for them, you would never notice them.

Hiding in plain sight…

I’ve never had a sticker on any of my cars unless it was needed for permit parking or entry to a facility (I grew up on military bases.)

It’s fine if you want to advertise your college, favorite sports team, political position, or something funny. I don’t. Just seems pointless to me, unless you can’t identify your car in a parking lot.

And yes, it is racist, even if used by that race. Maybe a “W”‘ for a female driver? Or an “A” for asshole who was a convicted road rage driver. Maybe a number for how many traffic infractions the driver has had? Points left on their license? “Felon on board”?

Sticker your car how you want. I think it is silly. Maybe I should make a sticker to that effect? “Bumper stickers are silly” Using Comic Sans, of course.

I had considered creating a sticker when I was stationed in Italy about being a CAD, Crazy American Driver. It was humorous, but I reconsidered, seeing that it might target me and my vehicle for local terror groups, although my Armed Forces license plate was already doing that.

Until someone calls you out on it, then its “just a joke”, lighten up”, “I’m just having a little fun”, “stop taking everything so seriously”, “You’re making a mountain out of a molehill”, “brewing a tempest in a teapot”, “you’re blowing everything out of proportion”, “see, even Chinese people aren’t offended by it”.

Its a racist stereotype, not because its all that offensive (it really isn’t) but because it gives offensive racists the satisfaction they’re getting away with something at the expense of the LIBS. Ha Ha. Lets go Brandon. It gives them the opportunity to accuse anyone who calls them out for it of “political correctness”. And it lets them accuse people who won’t let them get away with it of being “woke”.

I’m a Southerner. Its racist. I smell Confederate turd all over it.

I know Canadians are not immune or exempt from racism. No one is, not even black folks (or Asians, for that matter). But at least up North it doesn’t express itself as violence. But little jokes like this are the first step. Cowards like to test the water before they really get wet.
