And RL is right, the Republican Party of my parents is gone. It is dead. The few holdouts are in a life raft heading into a primary squall. Look at the lunatics holding office, including from my own state. The gun fetishists posing for Christmas photos with their families and their arsenal. They are changing laws in states to keep people from voting. Have you seen the videos of school board meeting where these people are just insane? You’ve seen and heard the death threats against not only the liberals but the conservative who don’t kiss Trump’s rump? Horrible, vile things. Doxing of childrens’ homes? TFG unleased the crazy in America, harnessed it, and rides it like a pale horse of doom.

I recommend reading my comment above (The Horror) about Steve Bathtub Bannon. This is the new Republican Party’s think tank. And he is far from alone. How do you change his mind when his goal, his stated goal, is to destroy the government of the US. Remember the phrase from the 1990′s, starve the government until you can drown it in a bathtub? You know that the John Burch Society, that group of crazy conspiracy theorists from the 1950′s is resurgent? They were too wacky for real Republicans back in the day.

Yeah, I get angry. I know it will not change a single mind. In my experience kindness doesn’t work either. So I’ll rant here when I feel like getting it out of my limbic system and VOTE.

The VERY few republicans that take a stand against the big lie are subject to official sanction by their party, they get death threats, they lose their positions.

The GOP IS the party of Trump, it IS the party of the big lie, it IS the party of conspiracy theory, it IS the party actively trying to destroy democracy, it IS the party of COVID denial. Pointing that out is a statement of fact, not a slander.

If you vote Republican then you are supporting all that- you might lie to yourself and say its because you support ‘conservative values’, but you know damn well the GOP hasn’t stood for those values in decades, if they EVER did…

They only stand for ‘owning the libs’ and seizing power, by any means necessary- they WILL kill our democracy in the next few years- you either support that or you draw up battle lines against it.

The fascists aren’t ‘misunderstood’, they are deplorable, they fucking celebrate the fact they are deplorable, they glorify the fact that they are monsters. There is no misunderstanding, there is no bridge across that divide, and it is immoral to try and build that bridge.

You don’t get to spend 5 years cheering for ‘liberal tears’ and then get to turn around and whine that it’s unfair that we are disgusted by what you chose to stand for.

The fascist right is killing our nation and in the next few years they will overthrow our democracy… And you gleefully helped that happen even as we pointed out the obvious to you.

You bigots have killed, and are killing entire cities worth of Americans, and many times that number will die when your side destroys our democracy… Exactly WHAT sort of kindness are we supposed to show to you in return?

What fucking respect is due to a fascist movement consumed by violent conspiracy theories? Conspiracy theories that have been cooked up specifically to justify deadly violence against liberals and minorities?

Just what do you think treating the monsters with respect will do to improve things? Do you think the creatures you allied yourself with will suddenly embrace democracy? Do you think they will stop their efforts to overturn elections that go against them? Do you think the multi billion dollar right wing media empires will suddenly stop trying to whip the monsters up into a murderous rage?
