With ~7.5 billion doses administered we have a pretty damn good idea of how safe it is.

The more unvaccinated we have, the more rapidly we will develop new variants like the one just now popping up in South Africa- the unvaccinated, whether by choice, or by global negligence, endanger us all.

Millions have died from this pandemic, and millions more will die in large part due to the anti-vaxxers. Freedom does NOT mean freedom from responsibilities. Anti-vaxxers should be ostracized- not just as a matter of immediate safety (which it very much is), but also to make an example out of them- If they behave as second class citizens, then they should be treated as such.

Mandatory vaccinations, innoculations and mandatory public health measures in America predate the founding of our nation- the ONLY thing that makes it different now is that THIS time the public health measures have been politicized by the fascists, the conspiracy theories and misinformation are delivered in a never ending stream into our homes via facebook and fox news.

You have the freedom to choose not to be vaccinated, you do not have the freedom to endanger others with your choices-

If any of my co-workers refuse the vaccine, they will not be my co-workers for long- and I am glad to see them go… and their choice to endanger others SHOULD cause them hardship.

It is to a certain extent, though how socially democratic the society is depends on your ethnicity. Not just from a political view but from the point of view of daily life. There is a lot of integration but also a lot of alienation.

Listening to New Zealanders on the subject of people who choose not to get vaccinated is interesting, and somewhat disappointing. Of course, the ones who chose to be vocal are the ones with stronger views but some of the ones expressed show a lot of contempt. It’s not just the capitalists who only admire people like themselves. Add into that a mix of three distinct cultures and you have an interesting situation at times.
