MLK, in my opinion, postponed, perhaps forever, real horror, a total bloodbath in this country. His focus on non-violence, especially when a peaceful solution seemed totally out of reach, was incredibly far-sighted, and unbelievably courageous.

His death meant his work was left to others, and its still not clear if his vision will eventually succeed.  His loss
was a great tragedy for this country.  We are still paying a price for it.</description>

As for me, Cesar Chavez would be my pick.  The man had solid political experience, and was able to build organisations from the ground up.  He was essentially Bernie Sanders, but with clout and teeth.</description>
