Due process doubletalk October 29, 2019 5:30 am ER

The GOP is insisting that “due process” be offered by the House impeachment inquiry, that is, that the inquiry and testimony be public and authorized, that the accused be offered the opportunity to confront and cross examine witnesses, and that defense counsel be present to supervise the proceedings. Of course, there are representatives of the President (GOP committee members) present, and the opportunity to confront and cross-examine witnesses are proper functions of the Senate Impeachment Trial, NOT the House impeachment proceedings or the preliminary hearings.

My question is; where were Mr Bidens’s due process rights being considered by the President when he attempted to extort a foreign leader to doing his dirty work for him? This is an investigation Trump could have initiated legally through his own Justice Department. Would the Bidens have the right to cross-examine and confront, to present exculpatory evidence, would the American public have any reason to have confidence in a Ukrainian semi-secret and unauthorized investigation?

Make sure you point out these examples of Republican hypocrisy when their apologists have the audacity to talk to you of “due process”.
