I devoutly hope Pelosi is playing nine-dimensional chess, and just waiting for the public's impatience to reach the boiling point so she can say she had no choice but to impeach that piece of garbage.

In a parallel track, the orange POS seems to be walking into the trap of preemptively resisting the impeachment Nancy swears she doesn't want to do. He'll literally leave her no choice but to begin impeachment proceedings if he succeeds in blocking normal Congressional investigatory power. In the most optimistic interpretation, Nancy has a plan that sets up a win-win for her (and us), and it's working.

The third article of Nixon's impeachment was obstruction of Congress, because of his similar defiance and obstruction of Congressional investigations. Donnie just never will understand that Congress's power to investigate the President is never stronger than when it's conducting an impeachment hearing. "I dare you to try and impeach me!", said the moron.

OK, let's.

How are you going to impeach someone when he refuses to testify, obey subpoenas, court orders and established law? How will you be able to bring him to justice when he has contempt for the law and his followers have
no respect for it? And how can justice be served when the bulk of the population is apathetic about the whole process? How are you even going to get anyone's attention when a substantial portion of the public believes the Press is an Elitist Liberal Conspiracy and half the rest don't care whether it is or not? And even if the House does impeach, the Senate will never convict, the courts are stacked in his favor, and local governments are dominated by his party.

This infection of the body politic no longer responds to the usual institutional or constitutional antibiotics. The only thing that will get rid of Trump is if he loses the 2020 election, and even that could be problematic. If he claims the election was "rigged", I don't think the courts and the Senate will dispute him, the business class will not give up their tax cuts and corporate welfare, and the MAGAs will pour into the street, armed to the teeth, to defend him. And as long as the economy seems sound and we're not losing a foreign war somewhere, the average middle-of-the-road voter will not care. There will always be some professional sporting event or TV reality show going on somewhere to absorb the peoples' attention.

It looks like America is going to get exactly the government it deserves.
