They've got many pieces of local and state government, large sectors of the judicial system, their own press, and an irregular armed militia in the works, coordinated by the NRA. Until recently, they had a majority of the Congress, but they have lost that, so things are still up for grabs. And as long as the bulk of the population is too busy watching NFL, NBA, NASCAR and Reality TV, the vacuum can be filled by anyone bold enough to bet his life on it. That's how all revolutions happen, its not a conspiracy masterminded by geniuses, its simply what is left after paralysis takes over.
