"Critical mass" will probably be achieved early in the second term.

But there will be no 2nd term for Trump. A Democrat will be in the White House and he will get blamed for the Hard Times of 2020-2024. And if that Democrat manages, after much pain and sacrifice, to turn the economy around like Obama did, the backlash will elect another Republican majority who can resume the looting in 2025.

To stop the Republican party once and for all will require a major economic meltdown to begin as soon as possible, otherwise we will never get our politics back in phase with our economy. Trump knows this, and it explains his tax policy. The only other alternative for Democrats is if the GOP wins in 2020 and the coming crash is all on them.

Think in terms of a leaf spring and a shock absorber, or an inductance coil and a capacitor hooked up in parallel. If both are tuned to work together, any oscillations are quickly damped out. If not, the system is unstable and vibrates to destruction, each swing greater than the last until the feedback shakes the system apart.

Barack pulled us out of the Bush II recession, Bill Clinton pulled us out of the Bush I recession, and so on.

There's nothing fundamentally mistaken about GOP economic policies, but they are so damn greedy about not paying taxes that they inevitably tank the economy and some Democrat has to bail it out by printing money. Think about it, the last time a Democrat precipitated an economic crisis it was Jimmy Carter, and he was a fiscally conservative Dem who was blindsided by an oil embargo--over which he had no way of controlling, predicting or stopping.

Think about it, the dot com bubble, the real estate crash, the '87 Dow Death Spiral, the savings and loan debacle, its all on the greed of the business majors. Sure, Democrats may be a little free with the checkbook, but their deficit spending creates jobs and winds up in OUR pockets. The cash the GOP swindles disappears into the hands of the one percent and its never seen again.
