It's not a matter of vengeance, or even justice- it is a matter of deterrence- the same reason we executed Nazis after WWII. Future generations need to know that succumbing to racist, fascist desires comes at an extreme cost... Those that do so will be treated like the disease they are. They have revealed themselves to be exactly what we have been saying they were... hypocrites and bigots with no real values other than enriching the rich, and punishing the less fortunate. In terms of moderates, though, I don't in any way understand how they're still with him. Are they focussed on a single issue to the exclusion of all else? (And what issue would that be, anyway?) Are many of those voters perhaps further to the right than they themselves realize? I mean, can you call yourself a moderate when you support a politician who *cannot* bring himself to condemn white nationalists?
