The guy you voted for has demonstrated his contempt for women more times than there is room here to list… even his own wife- he had unprotected sex with a pornstar while his wife was recovering from the birth of his child…

Remember when you were foolish enough to claim that was fake news? And how quickly the facts about your man betrayed you?

Women in our nation will be paying a heavy price for your foolishness for many decades to come- and as I pointed out below, more and more are becoming aware of that fact. I wonder how your wife feels about that?

In the end your blind support of this abhorrent creature will take everything from you- it has already taken so much. Perhaps you feel that you have little left to lose? Perhaps that is what drives you to accept the cruelty- you desire to see others suffer since you are so miserable with the depths you have sunk to? Misery loves company- even if it is a captive audience…?

Look at what you have become.

Your legacy is to only be a warning to future generations- one of the mob that they will point to and say ‘The world could have been a better place without them.’

There is also an element of pure evil, cynical, self-centered men interested only in advancing their interests at the expense of the rest of the commonwealth. They know exactly what they are doing and have absolutely no respect for any law. And these two groups are now in alliance.

But I still have confidence in the ultimate goodness and decency of the Common Man. Sooner or later, if treated fairly and honestly I think he will do what’s right. Maybe that makes me just a silly Liberal do-gooder, but I’d rather be one of them than one of the other.

You may say that it is coldly calculated by those in charge of that side, but it is only successful because the people they are marketing it to want to hear it…

And the question is, where does that reservoir spring from, what is its origin, its source? That’s a historical question, one for another post. But as long as that reservoir is present, the Trumps of this world will have an endless supply of followers. And its not just here, you can see it happening in Europe, in Russia, wherever there is a middle class that feels threatened and cheated, a bourgeosie that senses hard times are just around the corner (if not already here!) and that refuses to identify who the real villains are because it has been conned into following the wrong leaders.

No one enjoys realizing they have fallen for a con. Most would rather blame some external enemy; the foreigners, the Jews, the Communists, the Liberals, the “elites”, ANYBODY but the caste they have chosen to trust and who they wish to emulate. They have been promised that if they worked real hard and followed the rules that they would be rewarded, that they would be offered a seat at the table. Unfortunately for them, the hard work and denial they lavished on this promise has been harvested by someone else. And now they are pissed and looking for scapegoats. And the Trumps of this world are only too eager to provide them.

Who are they? They go by many names, in my youth they were “hard hats” or “rednecks” or “straight dudes”. Today they are “deplorables” or “white nationalists” or “populists”. They were in Germany and Italy and Spain, too, where they followed Hitler and Mussolini and Franco. In Argentina they followed Peron and Evita. But its not their fault. Its just those people who are disappointed and forgotten who suddenly realize what has happened to them, that they have indeed been abandoned, betrayed, stabbed in the back, and who have somehow been misled into thinking that the very peoples and ideologies responsible for their troubles are now the only possible source of their redemption.

Trump is not the root cause of the decline of American Democracy. He’s just the inevitable symptom and latest manifestation of it. If it wasn’t him, it would be someone else. The Conservative movement is full of substitutes ready to take his place, and they share the same ideology of fear, hate, anger, suspicion and revenge.

The corporate leaders funding breitbart and fox news may not be bigots (though in the case of folks like Thiel and the Mercers there is ample evidence they are), BUT the mob of bigots willing to lap it all up exists only on the right. The throngs of craven fools willing to tolerate racism as a means to an end only exists on the right…

Trump is either a bigot and a misogynist, or he is simply exploiting the bigotry and misogyny of his base- either way he would be powerless without the mob there to cheer him on…eager to revel in their 2 minutes hate.

On the news this morning I heard a report on what businesses are doing to try to attract qualified workers. Apparently, the economy is ticking up, unemployment is going down, there is a labor shortage and its getting harder and harder to find good people. Many different strategies were discussed, but it didn’t occur to any of the corporals of industry being interviewed that maybe a raise in salaries might solve their problem. I’m sure that they understand that perfectly well, I just thought it telling that they never brought it up.

You know, I can understand businessmen doing anything they can to keep costs down and profits up. If I was a businessman, I’d probably do the same thing. It’s just the hypocrisy on the Right that I can’t stand.

Follow the money, RL, follow the money. It explains everything. The Law of Supply and Demand may be inescapable, and it can be used to justify any number of outrages, but when it works to the benefit of workers it is scrupulously left out of the conversation.

In a generic ballot for the House, Democrats held a 50 percent to 41 percent lead over Republicans.

The GOP trails by 25 points among women, and leads among men by 8 points.

Forty-three percent of women said their vote for the U.S. House would be fueled by a desire to show opposition to President Trump.

The poll also showed 63 percent of respondents agreed with the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that established a woman’s right to an abortion, and 31 percent disagree.
