And yet one red line after another will be crossed, and you will accept it... and even defend it.

"They had it coming" after all...

You may not notice the change- but we do... I am sure others around you have. You have surrendered your mind, divorced from facts, rationality, and humanity. You don't dare question the next step that you will take down this path...

Because turning back now would mean seeing all that you threw on the roadside in your mad journey to get this far.

If you now support <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/20/politics/immigration-border-separations-tender-age-shelters/index.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">separating children from their parents</a> and using them as <a href="https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/immigration-officials-pressure-separated-parents-deportation-form_us_5b3c060ee4b09e4a8b28656e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">hostages</a> to force desperate parents to give up claims for asylum ...well, then you tell yourself its just, its rational, because you supported Trump and YOU are a nice sane person... so THIS step down the path makes sense, really, its actually long overdue- we should have been doing this all along if only we had a strong ruler like Trump before...

Besides... <a href="https://www.humanrightsfirst.org/blog/asylum-seeking-families-too-are-being-separated" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">They</a> Had It Coming...

Whatever you do, you don't ponder seriously the fact that 2 years ago you would recoil at the idea... that was then, this is now...

And you are prepared for the next step...

<a href="https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/wjbmdx/immigrants-trump-sent-to-federal-prisons-face-disease-outbreaks" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">When (not if) refugees start dying</a> from substandard care in detention camps you will rationalize that as well...

Oh, you might say to yourself 'that's a real shame'- but you will remind yourself its really their fault for coming here in the first place... eventually you will convince yourself that really YOU are the victim, because your tax dollars shouldn't be going to give them any care at all...

And so you are ready for the next step...

THEY have it coming...

As you know there are over 11 million illegals in this country. I'll leave it to you to figure out how many are refugees.
For me, and most conservatives, it's about money. Not the color of their skin. I wish them no I'll will. I was actually encouraged when Trump was going to try to give the dreamers a path to citizenship. Seems like it would have been a fair trade for money for the wall. It's a shame the Dems didn't take the offer.

But conservatives spent 8 years at war with him. Now that you've got your guy in office, you want us all to chant "our president, right or wrong!" Was that the GOP mantra during the Obama administration?

Face it, Rob, Trump supporters aren't loyal to the country, or to the office of president--they're loyal to the man. Even Trump himself has said there's only one voice in his administration that matters. It's a cult of personality, and the historical precedence for such situations offers precious little by way of encouraging outcomes.

Oh well. As long as that guy who Trump is going to shoot on Fifth Avenue is a liberal, it's all good, right Rob?

Just decide now what you will draw the line at- where is the harm in that? Isn't that the rational- the moral- thing to do? It is the honest thing to do...

Can you do that much? Or does your mind recoil at that prospect?

Because you and I, and everyone else know that the line you would have drawn 2 years ago has been crossed by a great distance.

<blockquote>“You have gone almost all the way yourself. Life is a continuing process, a flow, not a succession of acts and events at all. It has flowed to a new level, carrying you with it, without any effort on your part. On this new level you live, you have been living more comfortably every day, with new morals, new principles. You have accepted things you would not have accepted five years ago, a year ago, things that your father, even in Germany, could not have imagined."</blockquote>

What is wrong with you, Rob?
They are desperate people trying to escape deadly conditions... instability our nation played a large part in creating in latin america.

And now our policy is to try to make sure that the hell we put them through is worse than the hell they are trying to escape? Is THAT what you call Making America Great Again?

People who have lost children to the violence give everything they have to make a desperate escape with the children they still have- to give them a chance... only to have them taken away and held hostage by Trump....

THAT is the side you really want to be on? You really want to go down in history like that?

How do you expect history will remember people like you?

Don't blame our fucked up medical system on the people who need it. Blame it on those who profit from it.

Most services, like welfare, are provided to citizens, not to people who are doing their best to remain invisible. You don't go to an emergency room, or collect food stamps for fun; especially if you're holding down two or three jobs. These people aren't taking advantage of these services at YOUR expense, the people who hire them are taking advantage of YOU by making YOU pay for those services. Its taxes they don't need to pay.

Why do you think the GOP refuses to pass the comprehensive immigration bill proposed by their own legislators? For the same reason they don't enforce existing laws on hiring illegals. Because they WANT those Mexicans here driving down wages and keeping American racists shitting in their pants.

Welfare spending goes mostly to Americans who wouldn't need welfare if they had decent paying jobs. Those people would pay for those services just like you do if they were being properly paid on the job. And now they want YOU to pay for a Wall to keep them out and for YOU to pay for border goons to round them all up when all you have to do is enforce existing laws to remove the cash incentive--for free. Remember Romney's "self-deportation"?

Obama is a convenient bogey man for you guys, but he's been windsurfing in Hawaii for the last 18 months, and everything he tried to do to solve these (or any other) problems the GOP blocked and perverted. Remember, McConnel bragged about doing it, and why. <em>"To prevent him from achieving a second term."</em> And it did so even when those programs were policies the GOP had backed in the past. They weren't afraid Obama would fail, they tried to stop him because they were afraid he might succeed. And why do they do these mean things? Follow the money, Rob.

And yes, they are truly refugees, statistics show that purely economic immigration has been dropping steadily since before the election, mostly due to Obama's deportation and border security policies. (Look it up!) The people aren't jumping on trains looking for work, all Mexicans have to do is cross the border legally, overstay their visa and simply melt into the population to do that. There are plenty of GOP-supplied American jobs here to make that possible. Shutting down the trains or building a wall isn't going to stop people who can walk or drive or fly across the border any time they please. You're going to have to come up with some other excuse. How about Hillary? You've blamed everything else on her.

No, Rob, you've been fed a pack of lies, yes, fake news, by Fox and Friends, to scare you to death about all those little brown walking dead stumbling and lurching across the border. And they did this to get you shitting in your pants to promote the policies that keep Fox's Friends rich and their businesses profitable. Remember all those pretty Scandinavian girls raped by gangs of Muslim thugs? Yeah, that was Russian fake news too. Remember those Muslim neighborhoods in France the cops were afraid to go into? Remember the Muslims celebrating 9/11 in New Jersey? None of that shit ever happened! You guys made it all up! (Or the Russians did and you fell for it.) They have got you hooked so solid you can't even feel the pain in your lip any more. All you have left is the fear. You may not be a racist, Rob, but they used racist fear to get you to cooperate, just like the NAZIs used "Gangs of Jewish thugs raping the flower of German womanhood" to sell their poison. I guess that meant if you weren't anti-Jew then you were pro-rape.

Follow the money, Rob. No Liberal intellectual is going to get rich if a Mexican is landscaping his park or bussing his restaurant table or making his hotel bed or building his office building. But if you own a landscaping business, or a restaurant, or a hotel, or a construction company, those little brown rapists and gang members and drug smugglers are money in your pocket. Money you certainly won't be taxed on in a Trump administration. As for the hidden costs of bringing in foreigners to do all the dirty work? No problem. The voters will pay more in taxes to make up the difference. Rob, it doesn't take a mental giant to figure this out. Just see who <em>really</em> gets to benefit by it.

It's glaringly obvious the other side of the equation gets no attention. I agree with all you said about businesses being a cause. Jobs are a magnet for migrants, but so are the services they receive for free at the expense of the American people.

My wife spent 15 minutes in the emergency room for a dog bite on her finger the other day. One antibiotic, Neosporin, a tetanus shot. and a bandage cost me personally $800. I can't blame migrants for how fucked up our healthcare system is but they certainly add to the cost.

Obama shares the blame with past administrations. This problem of illegal immigration (and it is a problem) has been ignored for too long. Do you know how many are truly refugees and how many just jumped on the trains seeing an opportunity? No, you don't.
It's a shame refugees can't apply within their home countries. I think you'd see a drop in illegal crossings.
