I watched another Nova on PBS tonight: "Decoding the Climate Machine".
It contrasts beautifully with the presentation I reviewed in "Fission Funnies", above.

It pretty much sums up all we know and have learned about the Global Warming issue. Yes, its real. Yes, Its our fault. Yes, its getting worse. Yes, CO2 is the main culprit. Yes, the CO2 comes from burning fossil fuels. Yes, we need to do something about it real soon or we're in deep shit trouble.

The David H. Koch Foundation was also a major source of funding for the broadcast, as indicated by the credits. Good for them. I'm glad to give credit where it is due. The presentation even hinted (although it certainly didn't press it too strongly) that Conservative political opposition and economic interests to the scientific consensus on AGW are the major obstacle to finding a solution to this mega catastrophe we are inflicting on our planet. In fact, I think way too much emphasis was put on silver-bullet high-tech solutions to this problem, but I'm willing to let that slide. Overall, the presentation was fair.

Considering that the Koch Brothers are highly Conservative, and made all their money in the oil business, I see this as a very positive development. I hope we see more of this from our Conservative friends.
