Brit Floyd and Australian Pink Floyd.

They are first rate musicians that put on a typical best-of Floyd anthology concert, with top of the line production values, light show, pyros etc. And the music is indistinguishable from the original band.

Its like the band is franchised out, with several companies doing parallel tours all over the world. Its not unlike what Cirque du Soleil, Blue Man Group and Pilobolus are doing.

I'm not complaining about the quality, it is excellent, but I wonder if this is the future of Rock and Roll. I have a bad feeling about all this.

One was on our local PBS station. "Tribute Band" may be a bit unfair. These guys are excellent musicians, and they do the Floyd sound exactly, note for note, and have essentially the same light show. Even the slinky colored girls doing backup vocals have the same moves.

My first instinct is to reject this kind of copycat duplication, but I must confess that "note for note" performances are exactly how we listen to Bach, Mozart or Beethoven, so who's to say whether its legit or not?

Pretty impressive.

They were at Red Rocks a year or so ago, but my schedule didn't permit attending. That and I both Love and Hate Red Rocks.

If you have a chance to see them at a small venue, I'd say "go".
