Fox news is saying the lawful investigation is tantamount to a coup…GOP pundits and politicians are slanderin Mueller and claiming he is a criminal with no basis.

If he DOES fire Mueller, it would be a national disaster, the president flagrantly disregarding the rule of law.

The very real question you have to ask yourself, Rob, is what side will you be on if he does this criminal act?

Will that at long last be a step too far for you?

They blocked debate on Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, they have sabotaged Democratic legislation, ramrodded their own through the system, and created their own propaganda machine and alternate reality; they are obviously capable of anything. The question is whether or not they can decide on what they want to do. The Republicans are divided, at war against themselves as to how to react: the Bosses vs the Deplorables. The Democrats will be too weak, too confused and too chickenshit to do anything at all. There is some possibility some peripheral force, such as the military or the intelligence services will try to intervene, but I wouldn’t count on that.

If Trump fires Mueller when Congress is in recess, or if he issues blanket pardons for any indictments coming out of Mueller’s office, it may precipitate a constitutional crisis, or to put it bluntly, a coup. I believe that we might also suffer massive simultaneous cyber-attacks from N Korea, China and Russia as they rush to exploit and assist the resulting instability.

The TParty and the Libertarians wanted to drastically reduce the size and influence of government. They might just get their wish. Moveon’s talk of civil protest in the streets are just fantasy. It will be opposing mobs, and they will be racially segregated–and armed with automatic weapons.

It’s hard to say whether it’s accurate that Trump is planning to fire Mueller, and whether it’s “scheduled” to happen just after Congress adjourns. Trump denies that he plans to fire Mueller, but then I have to back up RL’s characterization of Trump as a pathological liar. Depending on the strictness of the fact checking criteria, he’s lied as much as five times a day on average since inauguration.

Add to that credible reports about Trump’s increasingly deranged state of mind, and I would judge it a real possibility that Trump will impulsively try to fire Mueller.

And I’ll be ready to protest. Trump is not above the law.
