My hat’s off to you, I wouldn’t know where to begin with something like that.

I agree with hank, though. I’m truly delighted that Bowser is still with us, but personally I think we need to respect any decisions he may have made regarding his presence here.

I hope he contacts us. But I really think we’ve made the right decision not to intrude on his privacy. I don’t doubt he has good reason not to be in touch.

Per the general consensus I have made no effort to contact or disturb Bowser, but I have determined (with the highest degree of certainty) that as of 11/04/2017 he is not deceased.

If Bowser alive and well, then he knows where we are and can contact board if and when he wants to.
If not alive or not well, I hope he passed/passes peacefully.
Either way, I don’t think it’s any of our business.

Or at the very least, incapacitated so he cannot communicate. I can visualize him deciding not to post regularly, but not simply casting us aside forever without some parting shot.

Death has visited the Zone several times, just since I’ve been here. Its a reminder of our mortality, we’re all getting near the end of the road.

There’s a scene in “The Lion in Winter”, when King Henry confronts his three sons, dagger drawn, ready to kill them all for conspiring with their mother against him. John and Geoffrey cower against the wall, pleading for mercy. Richard stands tall, ready to die like a man. “Always the brave one”, taunts Queen Eleanor,”as if anything mattered when you were about to die.”

Richard replies; “When you’re about to die, it’s all that matters.”

Maybe its not my call, but I say let Bowser have his dignity.

If bowser can’t contact us due to death or disability, that’s not a matter of his wishes, so I don’t see disrespect in inquiring after his welfare.

Frank touched lightly on a reason why not, when he judged his motives split. Is tracking down bowser a self-indulgence? How much of our motivation is to scratch an itch, balanced against bowser’s right to privacy if he’s able to make the choice to not be in touch with us.

When you’re hamstrung by uncertainty, doesn’t it make sense to resolve the uncertainty and accept the consequences?

He either cannot contact us, due to death or disability, or doesn’t want to contact us (for whatever reason). In either case, we should respect his wishes and not follow up.

Since my original post I have made a few inquiries (it’s what I do) and I have found his full name and address in Portland and I found no obituaries for him, (doesn’t mean he is alive). This is all I intend to do. If you want the information to make further inquiries, I can provide the information to you privately.

In spite of his paranoia and desire for privacy, I/we spent nearly 2 decades with Bowser. My curiosity regarding his well being is about 50% natural and 50% my ocd.

I can probably have someone (will be a favor asked) knock on doors and resolve the question, but only if it is done with mutual agreement of the community.
