Of course it is terrorism. The men felt they had to do something about what they perceive is a threat to their way of life.

Does that excuse their behavior? Of fucking course not. But they feel the way they feel, they over reacted they did terribly wrong. They should be punished and rightfully so.

People feel threatened. People lash out. It happens all the time. It is an imperfect world. Americans love justice. This will eventually balance out.

Who are DEFINITELY NOT terrorists because they are white and christian...

<blockquote>COACHELLA, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California mosque was damaged in a fire that authorities said was intentionally set.
Flames were reported just after noon Friday at the Islamic Center of Palm Springs, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The fire was contained to the small building's front lobby, and no one was injured.
By late Friday night, the Sheriff's Department released a statement calling the blaze "an intentional act" and saying it would use all available resources to investigate.
The department later said a person of interest was being questioned in connection with the incident, but gave no further information.
People at the mosque described hearing a "loud boom" and seeing flames, said Reymundo Nour, the mosque's acting imam, who was not on the site at the time. He said the mosque had been "firebombed."
...
The mosque was hit by gunfire in November 2014 in what authorities investigated as a possible hate crime. No one was injured in the early morning incident. The case remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made.</blockquote>

<blockquote>
Wright, who plans to protest Saturday at a different mosque, hasn't advertised the "Three Percenters" name in his activities. But he claimed membership in comments on Facebook and told the AP he was a leader in a Texas chapter. A second Facebook profile appends the Roman numeral "III" to his name, as do other Three Percenters, and features a black "III%" patch as a background photograph.

The Three Percenters movement began in 2008, galvanized by President Barack Obama's election, followers and researchers say. The name comes from the disputed percentage of colonials who armed themselves and fought the British during the American Revolution.
The number of Three Percenters is unclear partly because anyone can ascribe to the movement. The man credited as the founder has claimed 3 million on his blog. One national Three Percenters' Facebook group has about 12,000 members, including people from all 50 states.

Followers appear to consist mainly of white, male, conservative gun owners who believe the nation has been pushed to a tipping point by socialists in government aiming to disarm them, strip their constitutional rights and take their property, according to groups that track anti-government movements.
The Three Percenters lack a formal command structure, but have ideological similarities with other groups such as minutemen or militias. Their founder, a former militia member named Michael B. "Mike" Vanderboegh, stresses what he calls "armed civil disobedience."
Vanderboegh, 63, a one-time nurse's aide who lives in Pinson, Alabama, looks the part of an elderly professor. With the cadence of a Baptist preacher, he blends references to God and fist-banging disdain for "predatory government."

"What they are selling is a lie told by pathological collectivist liars ... to satisfy their insatiable appetites for your liberty and your property, even at the cost of your life," he told a crowd this year in Canon City, Colorado.
A 2009 Anti-Defamation League report called Rage Grows in America featured Vanderboegh and the Three Percenters as a growing "anti-government" movement. The Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled him an extremist.

After the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting that killed 26, Vanderboegh sent emails to hundreds of Connecticut state police officers saying they risked "initiating hostilities" if they enforced new gun-control measures.

"People like Mike Vanderboegh and others, can cause all sorts of people from the fringes who might be listening to do a violent act," said Mark Pitcavage, a defamation league expert on anti-government movements.</blockquote>

Just one last thought, hearkening to my model of the "right wing authoritarian".

A basic part of the model is what psychologists have found to be an "enhanced threat perception".

Which is to say, a right wing authoritarian is recognizable by being a little <i>too</i> aware of threats.

Publishing lists of threats like The Big List is one of the rituals that binds like-minded people. McCarthy held in his hand a list of commie infiltrators, conservatives have published countless books listing "The Liberals Destroying America!", various enemies lists, blacklists, lists of all kinds of threats. "Threat porn" might be a good name for that genre.

When it comes to awareness, it's possible to have too much of a good thing.

I know what the big list is. I'm going to stop here. I can see where you see it as bigotry.
I see it as a practicality, a warning. There's a difference between fear and the need for awareness.

Rob, The Big List is Exhibit A for the charge that rightwingers are bigots. Sorry, but if you hold up that list as your authority, you're holding up bigotry as your authority.

The list is a catalog of crimes committed by a person of the Muslim faith. It is not a list of terrorist acts.

If that’s your criteria for blaming terrorism on a religion, you’ve just implicated Christianity in most of the <strike>mass murders</strike>crimes in <strike>America</strike>history for<strike> the last century or so</strike>ever.

You just proved my assertion that conservatives consider every crime committed by a Muslim to be a terrorist act, a truly epic case of bigotry. I have to believe you really do know what terrorism is, that it has a concrete meaning formalized in law, and that it is <i>not</i> "terrorism = crimes by Muslims". It's fear and hatred blinding you to reason.

Details: Muhammad and Malvo killed at random. They killed a Federal agent, the analyst, at random. That allowed the DOJ to hang an additional charge of technical terrorism on them because it could. That still does not make their killing spree an act of Muslim terrorism.

I've never denied the existence of rightwing terrorists- where did you get that?

Lost change? I did not reduce the rightwing column by what are obviously not terrorist
acts. At the same time I did not include the incidences that were “half right” from the
Big List.

"Rules of analysis", I wasn't following any rules but my own in showing two sources that
tallied the attacks. I attempted a "fair" presentation, believe it or not.

<blockquote>
Lee Boyd Malvo: "...was charged by the Commonwealth of Virginia for two capital crimes: the murder of FBI analyst Linda Franklin "in the commission of an act of
terrorism"

John Allen Muhammad: "America got what it deserved" in the Sept. 11, 2001"

Wiki
</blockquote>

You know what they did. They were Muslims and terrorists. Don't know how you could say
otherwise with any intellectual integrity.

<blockquote>If that’s your criteria for blaming terrorism on a religion, you’ve just
implicated Christianity in most of the mass murders in America for the last century or so.
</blockquote>

So what? I really don't care.

Brandishing firearms a violent and terroristic act? Quit blowing bubbles in your milk.I suggest you read the Big List. I don't think you looked at it.

I know the difference between bigot and racist. A lot of liberals don't. Any negative
adjective they can find will be gleefully hung around the necks of all conservatives-
over and over, ad nauseam.
