In their desperate bid to increase profits, they will abandon and disdain any activity which is difficult, risky, or expensive, such as research, manufacturing, engineering or technical management.  The will replace it with what passes for entrepreneurialism these days, finance, marketing, lobbying, and outsourcing.

And they are also eager to sell any advantage they might have over to a potential enemy or rival if there&#039;s profit in it. I worked for a company once who sold a highly sophisticated intelligence-gathering system to the Red Chinese, but first they had to lobby the Reagan administration to work around the laws and regulations that would normally prevent the transfer of this kind of technology.  Needless to say, they had no trouble getting the dispensation they needed from that White House.

These people are not just eating the seed corn, they&#039;re selling it.
