It’s the misuse of tense, or the pretension of things like “Where are you located at?” “Where are you?” is sufficient.

“I seen” for “I saw”, “He comes” for “He came”, and that sort of thing indicates a very poor education and the public might be better off if those folks weren’t carrying guns and have any authority over mammals.

As far as prepositions are concerned, folks are free to be as illiterate as they choose.

I have done my share of agonizing over a damn preposition at the end. It has never made sense that you shouldn’t end a sentence that way.

The problem is, for business correspondence, it doesn’t help to be right when a large percentage of your recipients hold that rule dear.

Not really but I ‘have’ been informed that it’s perfectly correct to end a sentance with a preposition.

It appears that some people still have an aversion to ending a sentence with a prepostion so they follow the preposition with a noun. For example:

Where you at…bitch!?

I’ve generally found that, should one happen to write, and eventually think with a British accent, the result may be more concise; whereas Americanized English will, at times, simply run into a bog.

Watching true crime documentaries on YouTube and listening to law enforcement personnel saying, “I know he done it!” or 911 Operators saying “Now you just take a deep breath and relax, I know he’s shooting at you, just get down, where did you say you are located at? I have to know where you’re located at, RELAX! TAKE A DEEP BREATH! Are you in the upstairs or downstairs? Is the dead baby with you or in the back? How do you spell your name? Hauh? Is that an “F” or a “Ph”? I’m sorry, sweetie, but the phone is just ringing off the hook with calls from that apartment. Hold on, I’ll be back.” Or, “He said he come out from ahindt the vehicle and run into them ‘partments and I finally sees him down the ways a bit. It was a long ways, but Ah shot at him just to let him know Ah seen him. Too bad Ah hit that kid but he shoulda got out of the way!!”
