Messina to advise UK Tories

I’ve mentioned before that if I were one of HM subjects, I’d probably vote Tory. I’m not being facetious, Labour is a bit too far left for my taste, I would call myself a Conservative in the UK.

In my opinion, Mr Messina is not being hired strictly for his professional skills, he is probably an ideological match as well. Our own political spectrum is now skewed so far right that moderates are called Socialists by those on the right and flat-out reactionaries call themselves middle-of-the-roaders. There really is no left to speak of in the USA except for a few fringe groups no one really takes seriously.

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

From “The Second Coming”
