http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_Citizen_Movement

So there I was, in the Bahamas, just came out of the ocean and a couple of folks were visiting my host.  Actually one guy was a friend, and the other guy came with him.  They were sitting around smoking dope, complaining about how bad it was, and some of the conversation perked my interest so I sat in on it.

The friend of the friend was a Caucasian guy about 35, and he was talking about his experiences in New Hampshire.  (This fellow was serious, no sign of levity anywhere.)  He got into trouble with the cops somewhere there and he found it necessary to explain to the Governor that he is a Sovereign, doesn’t answer to State, local or Federal authorities and with all due respect he doesn’t need a drivers license,  or any other government document.  He doesn’t need to pay taxes, after all he is not a citizen or subject of the government, doesn’t need a drivers license,

At first I thought this was a long, poorly told, bad joke.  Nope.  He was serious.  He left New Hampshire after telling the Governor (his story) to in essence kiss his ass, and flew to the Bahamas where he believes there will be less ignorant interference with his sovereignity.

He said he just joined, but that next March every Sovereign who knows the password will tell it to one of their leaders and then receive $1.3 million, and will do so every year for their lifetime.

He clearly believed what he was saying, and the other folks were too busy bitching about their “bad shit” that they weren’t asking too many questions and I thought it best to lay low.  The guy was talking in about the same tone one might use if they were telling someone they had just purchased a Ford.

So the three of them finally confined themselves discussing what “bad shit” the locals produced and concentrated on finding more of it.  And I enjoyed watching all of the frantic flicking the lighters and scratching matches which had been out in the humid air for months.  They looked like three monkeys eating invisible banana pieces.—
