The Hard Right that has hijacked the Republican Party has once again tripped over its own dick. They could have been much more successful at promoting their policies and communicating their ideas if they just hadn’t been such pricks.

The entire purpose of this recent dog-and-pony show was to pass “bipartisan” legislation out of the Senate, have it blow up in the House (you do remember this stuff has to pass the House, right?) and then blame the Republicans for everything. Again.

Obama’s entire purpose right now is to get the Republicans out of the House in 2014. Every “poison pill” he’s proposed since last January has this in mind.

I own guns and keep them for self-defense; I have been trained in their use by a well-regulated military. I don’t even favor banning them, just argue for their responsible use. You can’t legally buy fully automatic weapons, but most can be easily converted. Parts and instructions are easily available from shooter’s websites (wink, wink). Hint: File the sear.

The Al-Quaeda nut job is trying to get American Muslims to buy easily-available military style firearms. Apparently they have more sense than those goose-stepping Christians who insist on their god-given right to buy them do. And as you point out, they are a lot better at getting around the law than he is.

Meaningful gun control legislation is consistently resisted by the gun lobby. When any is passed, consistent enforcement is resisted. Even policies formerly supported by the NRA are now suddenly opposed. Anything that will reduce the number of weapons sold (a reduction in gun industry profit) is opposed. In science, that’s called “a positive correlation”.

“Who the criminals actually are”. Oh, did you mean the blacks? Why don’t you just come out and say so. No need to dog-whistle, we all know exactly where you’re coming from. FWIW, the black community is trying desperately to get guns out of their ghettoes. The redneck community seems determined to increase them in theirs. The NRA and their industry clients just want to sell to both sides. War is great for the arms trade, especially civil war, and race war. Arms merchants, remember? War profiteers. War criminals.

Maybe you should look up where those guns used in Chicago shootings come from, and who it is that is legally buying them OUT of town and then illegally selling them IN town. Have you looked up any racial stats on who’s doing the wholesaling?

And you are going to have to come up with something better than your usual plea of “excruciating detail”. No one takes your vaunted research very seriously. We’ve seen it repeated to many times, in excruciating and monotonous detail. As your previous post and my response to it clearly demonstrate, you see and report only those factoids that support your position, and refuse to even notice anything else that might not, even when they appear side-by-side on the same page.

TB, the only reason you are opposed to reasonable gun laws is because liberals are for them. You can’t stand to admit they might be right about something. Anything. It threatens your detailed world view, your sense of excruciating infallibility, the instinctive righteousness of your side and the self evident corruption and depravity of your ideological enemies.
