"The time is with the month of winter solstice... November 14, 2012 8:09 am ER

…when the change is due to come.
Thunder in the Earth, the course of Heaven
Things cannot be destroyed once and for all.”

Chapter 24, Pink Floyd

As we approach the Mayapocalypse, 11:11 UT 21 Dec, 2012, we seem to hear less and less about it, don’t we?

The lining up of the ecliptic, equatorial and galactic coordinate systems is inevitable, but has no physical significance. Coordinate systems are totally man-made, and arbitary. If set in motion, sooner or later they have to coincide.

Ecliptic and equator cross twice a year due to earth’s orbit and the tilt of the earth’s axis.
The crossing points rotate around the sky every 26000 years due to precession. And the galactic coordinate system is a grid drawn in the sky by the International Astronomical Union.

I’m sure the anomalists will have all their spin ready to explain why the end of the world didn’t arrive on schedule.

The world IS coming to an end, you know. But it will when and where we least expect it. Whi knows, it may have started already but we’re just too dumb to notice.
