All right!!

You make your point effectively, although "better mandate than in 2000" isn't much of a mandate.

2004 also had a pretty decent popular vote margin, but the electoral vote was on a razor edge. Like this election, a couple hundred thousand votes in the right places would have tossed it the other way.

As an aside, to have something I said actually factually refuted, and with links to boot, is so goddam refreshing that it's like a cool breeze in Death Valley.

Thanks! Seriously.

Q: Bob Novak, is 51 percent of the vote really a mandate?
NOVAK: Of course it is. It’s a 3.5 million vote margin.

Krauthammer: And now that he’s been elected with a large majority, or a significant majority, and with a mandate, I think part of that mandate is to get the right judges, by his likes.

Claremont Institute:What emerged from the 2004 election was a moral consensus, and with it, something we might call a mandate. But it is not the mandate some are talking about.

USA Today:Even so, President Bush will sit down with his Cabinet at 10 a.m. today to begin his second term with a clearer and more commanding mandate than he held for the first

SF Chronicle: Bush claims mandate, sets 2nd-term goals / 'I earned capital in this campaign, political capital.

Yes, it basically depends on whether your side won or not but let's not pretend it never happened.

Can you cut the crap already? :p

"Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals—these are the very things that destroy them."

National Review, Heritage, Cato, Krauthammer...indeed, any factoid printed in any trog blog anywhere in the known universe that slammed liberals or lionized conservatives. etc etc. etc. And of course, when we don't respond to your little indirectas we get scolded for our intellectual laziness and failure to hear both sides.

So spare us the crocodile tears, OK? You have been insufferable. Remember how you counted the days before this election? I certainly do. I bet Buck does too. And remember how you managed to remind us at least once a week, for two fucking years, about the significance of 2010?

Now you can understand what we've had to put up with, day after day, for years, TB. What was your excuse again? "Tough shit, everything is political, deal with it."
I paraphrase, of course.

R U ready for that voluntary, gentleman's moratorium on political posts yet? Or does that only include liberal links?

"Oh wad some power the giftie gie us
To see oursel’s as others see us!
It wad frae monie a blunder free us,
An' foolish notion."

There's a board for that worldview, TB. It's called "Mysteries of the Multiverse" and it is for matters for which there is no factual evidence which demonstrates the point.

You should move your post over there. It belongs with crop circles, UFOs of alien origin, the OJ Simpson defense, and media conspiracy stuff.
