Thoughts bother people. When some can’t defeat a more successful or popular thought, they move to destroy those who think it. Evil and ignorance have never been bothered by the presence of a conscience.

One does not excuse the other. I know, you use the excuse “everyone does it”, or “they made us do it”.

Those are no excuses. And, sadly, there is no room for the US to accuse others of immorality. Just none.

Innocent people die in military actions. Always have, always will.

It makes a difference if your designated mission is killing terrorists, or your designated mission is killing a young girl.

You didn’t get it back then, and I doubt you’ll get it now.

The current method of drone attacks, which I support, is probably the technological pinnacle of ways to take out an enemy with the minimum of collateral damage. The other end of the damage curve from carpet bombing.

The Taliban and others of that kind were doing this kind of thing routinely long before 9/11. They did it when they controlled most of Afghanistan. It only made news when some humanist organization publicized it. This is how radical Islam will run things everywhere they get control, long after we are gone.

You will find a hundred stories about Americans patching up kids or even enemy soldiers. You will find none about the Taliban doing this. You never will.

What is your “first option” to deal with things like this?

Deranged mentality is correct. And it starts at the top. When war is sold as the robust thing to do, and not going to war is cowardly. And the sheep follow the lemmings.

To pick out only one side for this sort of atrocity is to lose sight of the fact that all humanity goes out the window in war, except for the feelgood stories of patching up some kid after one side or the other shot it.

Malala Yousufzai was in critical condition after gunmen shot her in the head and neck while boarding a school bus in Swat Valley Tuesday. Two other girls were wounded in the attack.
