Mile after mile of corn as high as a grasshoppers eye. July 31, 2012 6:34 pm bowser

Give us a break from ethanol, drought-hit livestock producers ask EPA

There is a drought, that’s for sure.  I don’t think much of the corn I saw had been destined for cattle or people, mostly fuel or corn syrup, but those poor farmers have been really clobbered.  There were other crops affected, too, but it seemed to me that corn wasn’t irrigated at all.

I mentioned one downpour to a local, and he said it was the first rain since May 4 and wasn’t enough.  Not a good year.
