Yes, I found the back door just trying to figure out why I wasn't seeing what others were seeing on the author page.

I wouldn't worry about fixing it. There is no way it can be used deviously.

Email me if you want it re-described but it is just a follow your nose thing.

Fixing my set-up could be as simple as changing my classification. On my profile page I am classed as an editor. The term that I have seen for most regulars is senior poster or something like that.

If you don't want any moderator powers extended, changing me to a senior poster should solve it. If I was intentionally classified different, I guess you need to work it out in a different way by straightening out permissions

That you did, Frank. Gave me a bad moment, but then I figured it out (I think, but it wouldn't hurt if you sent me an email about the trick to confirm), and it's really just a stunt that does no material harm. Though the poster's name doesn't appear on a blog (redundant), it's still recorded with the post, so there's always accountability.

(The imp of the perverse on my left shoulder is telling me to not fix it, so that you guys here in the beginning will have a few tricks you can play on the newbies who come along later. Is that too evil?)

I've been wanting to get an update on where you stand with the setup so I can straighten it out. Since we're here, obviously you've made progress. Some of it quite creative--I'll bet you figured out the blog cross-posting trick while trying to debug why you couldn't post at first.

Going through it by area makes sense, I guess. I'm just about finished with this author page design...can you post to the blog, and edit the text in the personal text box in the left column?

In the forums the issues that come to mind as critical are: Reading (post and comment bodies download when the title's clicked); writing--ability to post (start a new thread); ability to comment on a post; ability to edit your own posts and comments.

I could also use feedback about the UI, especially the dashboard. The dashboard is WordPress's, and I'm struggling to prune it back to manageable proportions. I'm particularly not pleased with the editing window, and I can tell nobody likes it. it's too cluttered--what parts of it do you really need and want? What parts of the dashboard do you want to keep, and what can I dump?

Just making sure I got someone's attention. :)

You can thank me by straightening out my set-up so I can see what I am supposed to see and do what I am supposed to do
